Are we supposed to be very, very scared today? Astrology and tarot experts throw light on this

It’s Friday the 13th today. Does that make you wince? Well, chances are you do, thanks to the influence of pop culture. Or, you probably laugh it off. Studies, time and again, have revealed that it is the most feared day and date in history.
In numerology, the number 12 is synonymous with completeness, as reflected in the 12 months of the year, 12 hours of the clock, 12 Apostles of Jesus and so on. Number 13, on the contrary, is believed to transgress this completeness. But the jinx tag to Friday goes to Biblical times, as according to Christian scripture and tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday. And the phobia continues to this day.
According to astrologer Bejan Daruwalla, the day could portend good or bad, depending on one’s personal horoscope. “Friday is ruled by Venus and the number 13 equals to 4, which is ruled by Uranus. So yes, there are going to be sudden changes, but that does not mean it has to be something ominous,” he says, adding, “People born on this day tend to be slightly eccentric, which means they are very original,”
Tarot reader Munisha Khatwani says that Friday the 13th is considered inauspicious in India too. “It’s the number of Rahu, hence the unlucky factor. There is a moon transit today, which means people might go through mood swings, feel short-tempered, edgy and aggressive. And this may continue over the weekend,” she explains. “Number 13 in tarot stands for death — the end of something. But it could also mean the beginning of something new,” adds Munisha.
Numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi says that though Friday the 13th is seen as a depressing day, however there’s nothing to be scared of. “It’s a concept blown out of proportion. Yes, the positioning of Rahu is strong on this day, leading to turmoil in personal relationships and professional partnerships, but nothing major. The date I’m most scared of is April 18th, because it’s a triple case of 9 and there could be a natural calamity, a political upheaval or some disaster, the effects of which will linger long after. It is going to be the worst date of the year,” he emphasises.
