Consul General Peter Haas and
Kiran Mehra Kerpelmann of the
United Nations Information
Centre hosted the do, which
saw inspirational speakers
from various domains interact
with the audience. Some of the
speakers included the likes of
Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi,
Taufiq Qureshi, Leander Paes,
Vishal Dadlani, Shaheen Mistry,
Agnello Dias, Anurag Thakur,
Suhel Seth, Rahul Akerkar, Asin
Thottumkal, Masaba Gupta,
Rajeev Samant, Shaina NC and
Sanjay Nirupam among many
others. Each speaker spoke
about their awe inspiring journey
and the courage to stand
up for their belief and convictions
— like Lakshmi Narayan
Tripathi spoke about equal
rights for all while
Leander Paes revealed
the tough times faced
by him as a young tennis
player.

Dadasaheb Ambedkar awards saw a host of celebs
arrive to collect their prize. The do saw evergreen
Asha Parekh grace the event, as she was
bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award. Rakhi
Sawant went for a more traditional look while collecting
the award for the most controversial face of Bollywood.
Others who received the award were Annu Kapoor,
Shivaji Satam, Ragini Khanna, Devang Patel, Alka Yagnik,
Kumar Sanu and Riyaz Gangji among many others.
Sushmita Sen’s daughter Renee and mother Subhra Sen
picked up the award on her behalf.
