Rushdie to visit India in Feb 2013?
Salman Rushdie, whose planned visit to the literature festival in Jaipur created such a furore that it had to be cancelled, may brave hardliners once again. The author might come in February to promote the film adaptation of his Booker Prize-winning novel, Midnight’s Children. Says the film’s director Deepa Mehta. “I am sure he is coming. I was told by the distributors that he will be here for the publicity. That will be nice.” She added, “He talks about the film amazingly. I sort of get shy about it, but he loves the movie, and loves talking about it. It is really sweet,” She admitted that Rushdie is “satisfied” with the movie. The author himself turned the 600-page book into a screenplay. IANS
