We always want our school to be a happy one
On the occasion of Dhirubhai Ambani International School’s (DAIS) 10th anniversary, educationist Nita Ambani talks about how she built an educational institution that she is proud of.The Dhirubhai Ambani International School has come a long way. How do you feel about the progress? We started our school 10 years ago with a dream to provide world-class education; a school where learning is a joy and teaching, a pleasure. We wanted to provide education of international standards that is strongly anchored in Indian values. I am happy that in such a short span we have been ranked as one of the best schools in India. Our outstanding results, the placement of our graduates in top universities across the world, the placement of our first set of alumni in top organisations and, above all, the overall development of our children speaks for itself.
What was your dream of an ideal school? We always want our school to be a happy one with happy children, teachers, staff and parents. A school where the child is at the heart of everything we do. It is a school where parents aspire to send their children to.
What is your vision for the school in the next decade? This is just a beginning. We have laid a strong foundation and it has been like a dream run for us. We are now getting ready for a marathon in building a timeless institution of excellence. Our children will graduate into a world very different from ours. We need to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century and to face the world with confidence and alacrity.
What are your next goals/focus areas? My twins will be graduating next year — Isha from Yale University and Akash from Brown University — and Anant, my youngest son, from DAIS. I am hoping to open Sir Hurkisondas Nurrottumdas Hospital next year. The Reliance University is another important project on hand. HOW TO DOWNLOAD & USE ALIVE APP
