F1 fever soars high! As Formula One debuts in India, gear up for the craze, off the racing tracks too...

The F1 fever this season is on like never before as the motor sport makes its debut in India. And while many are headed to the capital city to watch the swashbuckling sport, others too are looking more than just virtual entertainment.
Online gaming sites are offering the F1 fans a chance to get the experiential feel of the game. "The fast growing interest among the young towards racing in different forms is evident, and our offerings match this audience's aspirations and that's how you see the introduction of high speed racing cars' in our popular game about cars — The Great Indian Parking Wars," says Rahul Razdan, president (product and operations), of online portal ibibo.com. The game is targeted at gamers between the age group of 16 to 25 years, and lets the player own a fancy high-tech car in the virtual world. "The element of excitement comes when the player parks his car in his friend's street and/or challans other cars illegally parked," adds Razdan. Recently, mobile media company BuzzCity had identified 12 racing-themed games including the Underground Racer, 3D Street Racing and GTS World Racing, as amongst the top 50 games with innumerable downloads.
The merchandise industry too is having a share of the pie off the F1 craze as people are flaunting their F1 fascination on their Tees too. "This is a new dawn for Indian sports as the much celebrated Formula One makes a foray in India. We have received quite a few requests for t-shirts around this sport," says Kashyap Dalal, CEO of online T-shirt company Inkfruit.com. The designs were decided by online voting done by the fans.
TV is tuned in as well. Discovery Turbo gives the audiences a thrill ride with its latest 16-part series Inside Grand Prix exploring what happens during the race, how each team works to help their car win, etc. Says Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, South Asia, Discovery Networks, "The show gives an exclusive look at the current status of F1… and also captures the competitive drive and racing drama of the inaugural F1 racing in India."
