Where's the bidder? An internet auction site asks actor Akshay Kumar to hold on to his auctioned jacket and the money, as the identity of its highest bidder is yet to be established

The internet auction site which had put actor Akshay Kumar's jacket under the hammer has asked him to hold on to his jacket and money till they verify the details of the highest bidder. Akshay had previously declared that he would match the highest bidder and the combined money would go to an NGO. The jacket that has been put under the hammer is the same one he had worn in his last film Speedy Singhs, an Indo-Canadian venture.
"We were expecting that the jacket that Akshay wore for the film would fetch around 12 lakhs, but somebody has quoted Rs 30 lakhs. This is far beyond what everybody had expected. But the person who has put that bid is yet to be located. The site has asked him (Akshay) to hold on to his money and jacket till the guy is found and verified," says a source.
Most people register on different websites under aliases. But an identity check and a background check is always conducted before the things on auction are handed over.
"Whether it is matched or not, Akshay has decided to double that amount and donate Rs 60 lakhs to the NGO. The site will donate the money on its own. It will take about 15 days for the site to verify the details of this bidder. The identity of the person has not been identified so far," the source adds.
Akshay has been working towards raising money for Muktangan Charitable Trust which helps disadvantaged children for quite some time now. The NGO provides quality education for under-privileged children in the Municipal schools in Mumbai.
