The Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) is showcasing more than 150 films from over 40 countries, at the 13th Mumbai Film Festival, which begins today. Here's our pick of films
Melancholia
Starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland, the film traces the story of two sisters and their overwrought relationship on the last three days of planet Earth's existence. Coming from Lars Von Trier, the film is a follow up of his last controversial release, Antichrist. October 18, 8.15 pm.
Moneyball
Starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, this opening film of the festival is written by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin and directed by Bennet Miller. The film got much acclaim and is about Brad, who plays a general manager of a baseball team who has to draft his players using computer-generated analysis. This is also the opening film this year. The Yellow Sea
Directed by Na Hong-jin, the film is about the story of a cab driver from Yanji, whose wife goes missing from Korea where she has gone to make some money. October 18, 3.45 pm
The Ides of March
Boasting of an A-list cast consisting of Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti, the film directed by Clooney, talks about the electoral process in US, making shocking revelations about politics. October 16, 8.15 pm
Dolphin Tale
Starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd,the film is a sweet story that centres on the friendship between a young boy and a dolphin that loses its tail in a crab trap. The film is also the closing film for the MAMI this year.
Pina
Director Wim Wenders pays tribute to the well-known German choreographer, Pina Bausch who died last year. Pina is a feature-length dance film in 3D October 17, 5.45 pm
