Rahul Sharma and Deep Forest come together for a fusion album

Santoor player Rahul Sharma and Eric Mouquet of French musical group Deep Forest have come together for an album called Deep India, a first-of-its-kind collaboration by Sony Music Entertainment. The album, a fusion between traditional Indian symphonies by Rahul and electronica by Deep Forest, consists of eight tracks that capture the rhythms of folk melodies from across the country. It will be different from Rahul’s previous works, which are primarily instrument-based. Deep India will showcase distinct vocal elements.
Rahul says, “I am thrilled to work on this project and feel confident that this unique fusion
will receive excellent response from music lovers across the world.” Says Eric, “I have always been enthused by India’s multicultural heritage, including its legacy of traditional folk music. It’s great to work with Rahul. We are poised at creating western music with a rustic twist.”
Shridhar Subramaniam, President, India and Middle East Sony Music Entertainment, says, “Through Deep India, music fans will get to listen to new sounds created by the best in the music space. Deep Forest is a legend in the world music space and we always wanted to create an album that fuses Indian folk music with world music.”
