WHAT I WANT FOR MYSELF ON AKSHAYA TRITIYA TODAY...
From gold and silver to cars and even a new home, telly glam girls share their wishlist with us
Small-screen stars are known to celebrate Akshaya Tritiya with great enthusiasm and fervour. The word ‘Akshaya’ means never diminishing in Sanskrit and the day is believed to bring in good luck and success. It’s believed that any venture initiated on this auspicious day will continue to prosper. Here, a few celebrities share their plans for the day:
AARTI SINGH It
is advised to start a new business on this day as it’s considered to be
auspicious. Like every year, I will buy some gold coins this time as
well. I buy gold coins every year on Akshaya Tritiya, as I plan to make a
jewellery set for my wedding. We also have a small puja at home.
Karishma Kotak I
fondly remember my father’s gift — a pair of earrings — on Akshaya
Tritiya last year. This will be my first Tritiya without him and I am
going to miss him dearly. When I was young, we used to perform a small
puja at home. It’s a tradition that my mother has kept alive. But I stay
alone and have an erratic schedule, so I don’t want to start a
tradition, which I can’t follow. So, it will be a day of silent prayer.
Akshaya Tritiya brings along with it a lot of positivity. I buy whatever
is good in terms of investment — this year, I intend to invest in a
house or a car and a few gold coins.
Divyanka Tripathi
I usually don’t get to celebrate Akshaya Tritiya because either I am at a shoot or occupied with some events. But I make it a point to light a diya at the altar. My family performs a puja at home and my mother prepares delicious food on the day and in the evening they go out for shopping. My fondest memory would be the year I bought a pair of gold earrings along with a nice bracelet on this day. I would love to buy a pair of diamond earrings for my mother.

Pratima Kannan I
started the tradition of offering a prayer, early in the morning on
Akshaya Tritiya. Its fervour in Mumbai is unparalleled and the city has
taught me to celebrate the occasion. I have been buying gold coins on
this day for almost 18 years. I like buying gold, so the day becomes
even more special for me.
Roshni Chopra It
is one of those auspicious days when one prefers to make positive
changes in life. Though people reserve the day only for buying gold, I
feel anything new —- electronics and gadgets — can be bought. Days like
Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras are auspicious occasions on which I buy
something for good luck. I had once bought a gold coin and my Ipad on
this day. I am yet to make up my mind this year, but I may buy some
gold.
Pooja Pihal I
love to shop throughout the year, but Akshaya Tritiya is an auspicious
occasion to buy jewellery. Also, the offers are tempting. I intend to
buy silver and gold coins this year and will take my mother’s guidance. I
will perform a small puja and pray for a new show of my choice. I
believe in starting something with a positive intent on such days.
Sneha Wagh I
will buy a few silver coins for my mother and at least a ring for
myself. I started buying gold for the first time in my life on this day.
I started earning at the age of 20 and went with my friend to buy gold
with my savings on Akshaya Tritiya. Though I will be shooting, I will go
home and perform a small puja like every year. This will be followed by
maa ke haath ka aamras puri.
