Women spend £15k on lost make-up
Women mislay so much makeup they spend a staggering
£15,872 replacing it during their lifetime, according to a new study.
The research found losing expensive cosmetics now costs the typical
British woman £248 a year. Those who do their makeup on the morning
commute are some of the worst hit, with one in three leaving some on
public transport. Almost half have lost makeup in the back of a cab, a
quarter has dropped some down the toilet and a third waved it goodbye
after leaving it at an ex-partner’s house.
One in ten (9%) have dropped makeup down the drain and a quarter (27%) have left some in a restaurant. The research, by the UK’s largest online beauty retailer, feelunique.com, found most women now carry more than £200 worth of cosmetics.
As they carry it almost everywhere with them, 40% admit losing at least one item per month. But it seems that modern women are so attached to their makeup the repercussions go much further than cost.
