An elegant English evening in the city
The England cricket team was seen having a great time at the reception hosted by Peter Beckingham, British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India, on Wednesday evening to celebrate their achievements before the players left for Kolkata. The boys enjoyed all the attention they got from ardent fans and British dignitaries. Also present on the occasion were English Cricket Board managing director Hugh Morris and Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who addressed the team and guests in a witty speech. He brought the house down with his sharp humour. Sachin Tendulkar’s mother-in-law Annabel Mehta was also present here. The team enjoyed Indian food and insisted on having ‘fresh and hot’ tandoori rotis.
