They read, they spoke, they awed
Literary rockstars kick-start a weekend of intellectual indulgence and cultural celebrations at the Times of India Literary Carnival
The second edition of the Times of India Literary Carnival at Mehboob Studio got off to a spectacular start with a keynote address by Maximum City author Suketu Mehta. His speech was applauded for its wit, stories of human conflict and the predicament of migrants. The city of Mumbai and its peculiar characteristics remained a prominent topic of discussion throughout the day. Katherine Boo also chatted about her experiences in India as a journalist and meeting husband Sunil Khilnani. The day’s highlights included a feisty Sania Mirza chatting with friend Boria Majumdar about her life, Anita Desai revealing how her children didn’t want to take up writing, and Vishal Dadlani discussing the paradox of how a song like Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu was a hit in the past, but may not be popular today.
