Sherawat herself wonders if many Indians will relate to the storyline
Till last year, Mallika Sherawat constantly made news with regard to her last-released Hollywood flick, Politics of Love (Love, Barack). Be it her raunchy car-wash scene or a picture of her wrapped in a US flag, the Brian White-starrer created a lot of buzz.

Although the William Deardirected film hit American theatres last year,
Indian audiences are unlikely to watch it on the big screen. The reason:
its makers apparently feel that the film doesn’t have a strong market
in India thanks to its subject.
“Politics of Love opened with great reviews in the US. But I don’t
think it’s going to release here (in India). Honestly, I don’t know how
many people in India would understand the love story between a Democrat
and a Republican in America. I think that’s the primary reason for it
to not get a release here,” says Mallika. “But if I feel there’s a
demand for it (in India), I will surely talk to my producers.”
The film is about the unexpected romance that develops between an IndianAmerican Democratic campaign worker, Aretha Gupta (Mallika), who falls in love with an African-American Republican, Kyle Franklin (Brian), in the month leading up to the 2008 US Presidential Elections. Politics of Love released in the US on August 26 last year, followed by its on-demand digital distribution from September 3.
Currently busy with her new Bollywood flick, Kismat Love Paisa Dilli (KLPD), co-starring Vivek Oberoi, Mallika says that she has already signed her next international film. But she chooses to keep mum about it. “I can’t say anything. Let the makers announce it before I comment,” says Mallika. “Anyway, I am in no hurry to sign films. I am only taking up projects I really like. There’s no pressure on me.”
