City students are keen about a career in playing the tabla and the keyboard

Navi Mumbaikars have achieved some remarkable feats in every field, from dance to literature and from sports to academics. This time we present before you two young achievers in the field of music — Vishal Mhatre and Prashant Ohol. Both of them are students of Karamveer Bhaurao Patil Modern College, Vashi, and have bagged the second and third positions at the university-level Youth Festival recently. The boys won the prestigious awards competing with participants from colleges all across Mumbai.
This Youth Festival was held at the Mumbai University campus in Churchgate. Nerul resident and SYBCom student Vishal Mhatre had competed in the category Indian classical instrumental percussion. Vishal played the tabla and had 21 participants from colleges around Mumbai and Navi Mumbai who competed against him. There were various other categories such as skits, mime, western group song, western solo performance, etc. Vishal won the second prize in the university level, and thus secured a prestigious position in the league of those who would be selected to perform at the national level. "I have been associated with tabla vadan since more than a decade now. I belong to a musical family, as my dad Ashok Mhatre is a trained classical singer and has learnt under the guidance Pandit Prabhakar Karekar," mentioned Vishal.
Pandit Makundaraj Deo from Thane has been training Vishal from a very young age. It would come as a surprise that Vishal got attracted to tabla when he was two-and-a-half years old. When he was 8, Vishal started learning the instrument professionally. He was one of the semi-finalists in the Rexona Saam Gurukal, a musical talent show that was aired on Saam Marathi channel. When asked about his career prospects, Vishal said, "I want to become a tabla player. After winning this university-level competition, I will get a platform to perform before a bigger audience." He wants to become a combination of his Pandit Makundaraj Deo and Ustad Zakhir Hussain.
Another SYBA student from the same college, Prashant Ohol, has bagged third place in the same competition. Prashant, a Turbhe resident, played the keyboard in the western instrumental non-percussion category. Prashant too belongs to a musically-inclined family. He said, "I am passionate about music. My grandfather Panduranga Tatya Ohol would play shehnai at the Pune Akashwani Kendra when I was young. I remember accompanying him on harmonium when I was just 4 years old. My dad would take me along to my grandpa's musical concerts and there too I would accompany him. When I was 7, I started learning to play the harmonium."
When Prashant was in junior college, he was introduced to the art circle. He found that there was no one to play the harmonium or keyboard. When he went for the youth festival in 2007, Prashant realised the importance of playing the keyboard and the fact that he could even make a career of it. It was then that he started learning to play the keyboard professionally from his present guru Raja sir. "I am appearing in the trinity exam (affiliated to London) at the 4th grade. The exam is prestigious and we are rated by a professional piano player from London. The syllabus includes about 13 songs of 1.5 minutes each that need to be played with staff notation," he said.

Heart Health Risk Factors

India being already declared as Diabetic capital of world is now at biggest risk to qualify for world heart disease capital status as well. Let us understand some of the factors driving this trend and how they affect us
Smoking
l Smoking is a major reversible cause of heart disease. Smoking can cause several diseases such as atherosclerosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema, which put increased pressure on the heart. The AHA says that those exposed to secondhand smoke increase their risk of heart disease by 25 to 30 per cent.

Hypertension
l Hypertension can cause heart disease by overworking the heart. The heart must contract with greater force to push blood through constricted vessels. The American Heart Association says that about one in three people has hypertension and one-third of them do not know it.

High Cholesterol
l According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the higher the cholesterol, the higher the risk of heart disease. A level of less than 200 is desirable, 200-239 is borderline, and greater than 240 puts a person at twice the risk of a person with a level of 200.

Diabetes
l Having diabetes (uncontrolled or controlled) increases the risk of heart disease. According to the AHA, at least 65 per cent of all diabetics will die of heart disease.

Obesity
l The NHLBI says that obesity has three components: Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference and diseases associated with obesity. Those with a BMI of 30 and those who are overweight with a BMI of 25 to 29.9 are at risk for heart disease. A waist measuring 40 inches or more in men and 35 inches or more in women represents an increased risk. Obesity is also associated with hypertension, diabetes and atherosclerosis, all of which are risks for heart disease.

Inactivity
l Inactivity increases the risk of obesity. Obesity spawns many secondary diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, which in turn increases the risk of heart disease.

Uncontrollable Factors
l The AHA lists uncontrollable risk factors as race, heredity and age. African-American men are at highest risk for heart disease. African-Americans are at highest risk, as well as those with a family history, men older than 35 years and post-menopausal women.
l A recent study from Washington University in St Louis explain why more than 75 percent of diabetics die of heart disease (Journal for the American College of Cardiology, February 7, 2009).
l Another study from Sweden shows that many people discover that they are diabetic only after they have had a heart attack.
l Too much salt in your diet can lead to high blood pressure and increased risk of heart attack or stroke.
High blood pressure is a chronic condition, and the damage it causes to blood vessels and organs generally occurs over years.

Diabetics' coronary calcium levels are strongly linked to heart attack risk

Notable levels of calcium buildup in coronary arteries can be strong predictors of heart attacks and strokes in people with diabetes and metabolic syndrome, according to a study led by UC Irvine's Heart Disease Prevention Program.
The researchers also found that individuals with diabetes or metabolic syndrome but no evidence of coronary calcium had cardiac-event risks as low as many without these conditions.
Supported by the National Institutes of Health, the multiethnic study of atherosclerosis involved 6,600 people ages 45 to 84. About 16 percent were diabetic (primarily type 2); another 25 percent had metabolic syndrome, a combination of disorders that can lead to cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
The researchers wanted to know whether information from a heart scan for coronary calcium or an ultrasound of the neck's carotid artery could supplement standard factors -- high cholesterol, smoking, elevated blood pressure – in assessing a person's chance of heart attack or stroke.
Diabetics have narrowed arteries because high blood sugar levels cause plaques to form and reduce the diameter of the coronary arteries. The increased need for blood flow from burning fat and the decreased blood flow from narrowed arteries put diabetics at very high risk for heart attacks, heart failure and sudden death. The increased use of oxygen increases blood levels of oxidants that further damage the inner linings of arteries.

World Heart Day 2011 highlights the need to take charge of your home's heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke

Cardiovascular diseases are the world's largest killers, claiming 17.3 million lives a year. According to WHO and the World Heart Federation, risk factors for heart disease and stroke include raised blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels, smoking, inadequate intake of fruit and vegetables, overweight, obesity and physical inactivity.
World Heart Day was created in 2000 to inform people around the globe that heart disease and stroke are the world's leading cause of death, claiming 17.1 million lives each year. Together with its members, the World Heart Federation spreads the news that at least 80% of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke could be avoided if the main risk factors, tobacco, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity, are controlled. World Heart Day takes place on September 29th each year.
After two years of focusing on heart health in the workplace, this year WHO and the World Heart Federation have called on individuals to reduce their own and their family's risk of heart disease and stroke.
They have asked people to take charge of their home's heart health by taking steps such as choosing healthy food options, increasing physical activity, and saying no to tobacco.
Prevention measures
l Have your cholesterol checked. Test your cholesterol levels at least once every five years. Talk with your doctor about this simple blood test.
l Monitor your blood pressure. High blood pressure has no symptoms, so be sure to have it checked on a regular basis.
l Manage your diabetes. If you have diabetes, closely monitor your blood sugar levels. Talk with your doctor about treatment options.
l You and your doctor can work together to prevent or treat the medical conditions that lead to heart disease. Discuss your treatment plan regularly and bring a list of questions to your appointments.

Raising the Good Cholesterol
l Most people are usually concerned about their total cholesterol levels, and their amount of LDL (the "bad cholesterol"). But in reality, low HDL levels are also closely linked to coronary heart disease. According to a recent article in the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, a low level of the "good cholesterol" (HDL-C) is the most common lipoprotein abnormality in people with coronary heart disease. These low levels best predict the risk of heart disease, even when the total cholesterol is within the normal range.
l The National Cholesterol Education Program defines an HDL reading below 40 as an independent risk factor for heart disease. Lifestyle measures for raising your HDL levels include weight loss, drug therapies, and omega-3 (fish oil) supplementation. While there are no magic dietary bullets that raise HDL levels, merely replacing fat with carbohydrates without reducing caloric intake can cause good cholesterol levels to fall by as much as 20 per cent. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, help lower blood cholesterol when used in place of saturated fats.
l Even more important than diet and weight loss is regular aerobic exercise. The more aerobic exercise you do, (such as running, brisk walking, swimming or cycling) the higher the good cholesterol will be. And the duration of the exercise rather than the intensity appears to have the biggest influence. Good cholesterol rises about a milligram for every four or five miles run/ covered each week.

With the new season of Bigg Boss ready to kickstart soon, After Hrs checks out the house where the action's about to begin

'House' that?

With the new season of Bigg Boss ready to kickstart soon, After Hrs checks out the house where the action's about to begin
A sneak peek of the Bigg Boss house (above) the living area with kitchen and (right) the confession room

As if the lives of the soon-to-be-inmates at the Bigg Boss house aren't colourful enough, this time around, the show producers have added generous doses of colour in the house as well. Almost a replica of a posh dollhouse, the walls and furniture are painted in bright hues of pinks, yellows and greens. Or on second thoughts, perhaps, the show-makers wanted to ensure that whether or not the inmates show their true colours, the house surely will.
In it's fifth season, the house — where the 14 inmates will be put up for more than 90 days — has been moved from Lonavala to Karjat, this time around. As one makes way through a very claustrophobic passage, one enters a huge living area with a kitchen right in the middle of the house. Considering most fights start or take place in the kitchen, the makers probably wanted it to be the central character of the house as well.
There are two bedrooms —one done in pink and other in green — with more double-beds than single ones. This seems to be another bid to add zing to the show right from the moment people enter the house. The 'captain' will be made to stay in a special room that's the only one that has an attached bathroom. Also the swimming pool, lounging area and gym are much smaller in size this time. The big change is the dinning area which is now outside the house. A new addition is the zorb-shaped dome where the head of the house can have conversations in complete privacy. The confession room too has been done up differently and has a rather sinister feel to it.
Overall, as compared to the last time around, the house feels more like a set, and a bit cramped, despite being spread over 16,000 sq feet. The fake grass seems as unreal as some of the people who turned up in the house in the last four seasons. And to keep inmates from running away, the walls have been fitted with electric fencing. Of course, this is where the first season was shot, before the house was shifted to Lonavala and though the locals may not expect action outside the house, there's promising to be enough in this house for sure

'Akki is inspirational'

Music band Rhythm Dhol Bass, popularly called 'the kings of crossover' talk about their latest work with actor Akshay Kumar…

The song Shera Di Kaum is creating much ripples over the internet, tell us how did it happen?
Once we knew the type of song Akki wanted and the general context, it came about very quickly. Most of our work is grown organically. Singh is King was the same. The melody is created and fine-tuned by one brother, while the others put together the beats.

It's the second time you have sung for Akshay…how do you find him to work with?

We've done quite a lot of hits for him now. He's inspirational to be honest. Even though music isn't his forte, he has this incredible panache of recognising a hit.

Who are your favourites when it comes to music?
We strangely have totally different tastes. Kuly prefers his Hiphop from Biggie to Black Eyed Peas. Manj has an inclination to UK Bhangra and Surj has always loved a mixture of RnB and Soft Rock.

You have been called the Indian version of Black Eyed Peas, right?
We're humbled with the comparison. We admire them for their incredible work and hope to collaborate with them one day. I suppose the cutting edge electronic music and simply being three guys and a girl would spark such a comparison.

What makes Punjabi tunes/ raps a hit in Bollywood?
Bollywood viewers have become very diversified. Adding a Punjabi hook-line has created a totally new style of a 'hit song', and most film producers are realising this.

What's next on your mind?

We are trying to keep the 'hit makers' title alive by continuing our efforts in the Bollywood industry. We count our blessings each day.

Strings talk to After Hrs on their comeback, the fall-out of 26/11, and what to expect for Shootout in Wadala

The dynamic duo of popular Pakistani band Strings, Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood are back in the Indian musical scenario, all set to weave their magic into the hearts of Indians, once again.
On returning to Bollywood after three years, Faisal says, "It seems a bit unreal. After 26/11 we thought that it's all over for Pakistani musicians in India. After that event, we saw a very strong bond between all the Indian Music Industry stakeholders. The free flow of Pakistani musicians came to a halt. Some of the Pakistani Artists continued doing playback since it did not require public appearances, but our number of concerts dropped drastically." "India which was once our second home, started looking like an alien country to us," adds Bilal.
But it was a dream when Sanjay Gupta offered them Shootout At Wadala. "Somehow Sanjay believes in our music and our ability to understand the script and deliver accordingly," says Faisal. Strings had worked closely with Sanjay for Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) and Zinda (2006). This time around, they are coming on board as the composers not just for one song but for most of the film. "Last time we composed only Aakhri Alvida. Now we'll be making around four to five songs. We might sing a couple of them but for the rest we'll be looking for appropriate singers. Genres are quite varied. There's a celebration cum item number and an uplifting qawwalli," informs Bilal.
Talking about the present musical scenario in Bollywood films, Strings believe that Indian cinema has become very vibrant. Faisal explains, "Music has changed a lot. Now you cannot pinpoint a particular genre and say that this is Bollywood. Producers are now ready to take risks."
They also believe that to compose music for a Bollywood film requires one to come out of their comfort zone. ". But then as musicians we crave to do a project like this where the possibilities are endless. We just have to keep pushing ourselves till we get something that is groundbreaking," adds Faisal. Though they haven't worked with any Bollywood composer as yet, their favourites are Amit Trivedi and Vishal Bharadwaj. Apart from working on singles they are in the process of locking dates.
And will soon announce their concert dates in India. Lastly, they sign off saying that how their last two singles, Mein Tou Dekhoonga and Ab Khud Kuch Karna Parega were political in nature, inspired from the turmoil in their country.

Actor Eesha Koppikhar talks about her comeback on TV and her attraction for dance reality shows

Khallas babe's back!

Actor Eesha Koppikhar talks about her comeback on TV and her attraction for dance reality shows

Riding high on her critically-acclaimed performance in her latest film Shabri, actor Eesha Koppikhar is now all set for a new challenge. She is making her comeback to TV, as a judge in the Marathi dance reality show Khallas Dance Ekach Chance. Incidentally, her first brush with television was when she had judged another dance reality show Nach Baliye 3 in 2007. Talking about making her foray in Marathi television she says, "I have always had offers coming from the Marathi industry and dance is something that excites me. Also I feel reality TV is really big and being a Maharashtrian I owe something to the Marathi industry. After all I have achieved everything here in Maharashtra."
Comparing Nach Baliye with Khallas Dance Ekach Chance, Eesha says, "Nach Baliye had celebrities; whereas the main crux of Khallas Dance Ekach Chance is about sourcing real talent that needs a platform to showcase itself."
About her switch to television again, Eesha explains, "I have always been getting reality show offers, but my films have kept me busy. Now that I'm through with Shabri, I thought what better way to keep in touch with my fans than television. Further more, I love the feel and energy of judging a reality show. The contestants are just so talented and full of enthusiasm. It gives me a different high to be on stage and judge the contestants. The spontaneity of television is addictive."
Inspite of getting some interesting film offers, Eesha chose to go with her love for dance reality shows. "I'm getting some really interesting work. After Shabri, I wanted roles of substance and not characters that needed me to be a mere prop. Actually, I'm on the verge of signing a new film but I can't talk about it now, until the official announcement is made," Eesha adds.

Actor Prateik whose next film is up for release in the coming week has decided to go celibate till the film hits the screens

Bollywood is going a step further besides promoting their films to ensure that they get a good response at the box-office. In a bid to be different and with the hope and belief that his film will do well, actor Prateik has decided to go celibate till the time his film releases. This is the first time Prateik is doing something extra besides promoting his film before the release.
Talking about this weird vow that he recently took, he says, "This is my first solo hero film and log kya kya nahi karte before their film releases. Some visit religious places to seek blessings, some take a vow of giving up on certain things. I have decided to go celibate. I am just 24 and it is my test and I am sure, I will pass this too."
While he is super excited about his first solo-hero film to release, he is also excited about the fact that he will be experimenting with comedy. "Till date, the audience has only seen my intense side and with this film, I have pushed the boundaries. I have tested myself as an actor and stepped out of my comfort zone. I have this serious image though I am quite chilled out," he says. He has also learnt to dance and though he has managed to scrape through, he says dance isn't his cup of tea. "Dancing is not an easy job at all. It was fun like everything else but then it is a different ball game al together."

New dosti in B-town! Film maker Aditya Chopra and actor Aamir Khan recently met up to discuss 'marketing techniques'

Actor Aamir Khan and director Aditya Chopra seem to be bonding a lot these days over 'marketing techniques'. Aamir has recently earned a name for himself for being a 'marketing guru' when it comes to film marketing and Aditya reportedly wants to learn a thing or two from him.
"The two recently had a long chat in his office where Aditya showed him the digital poster that he has created of the next Salman Khan movie that he is producing. Aamir said that he also wants a great digital poster to be made for his forthcoming Reema Kagti film with Kareena and Rani," says a source.
Aamir and Aditya were probably discussing one more project and were thrashing out a few ideas from the forthcoming series from the Dhoom franchise where Aamir plays the negative lead. "Aamir loves to brainstorm when it comes to marketing ideas and they were discussing how to effectively market the film. Aamir had a few ideas and he was sharing them with Aditya," adds the source.

"Adi and Aamir had been friends for a long time but this is for the first time that Aamir and Aditya are bonding over work. Before this they just exchanged pleasantries in parties and private ceremonies. Needless to say that nobody will talk about this till they decide whether Aamir would be working in an official capacity or not," the source adds. Adi, it is learnt wants to develop some innovative marketing strategies for the marketing of Dhoom and allocating a fairly large budget on it. "

City to play host to India's first Comic Con Express that unites the comic book community

Wanna get graphic?!

City to play host to India's first Comic Con Express that unites the comic book community

It would be safe to say that the general interest in comic books hasn't ever taken a dip. The days of Tinkle and Chacha Chaudhary seemingly aren't over yet; although slick Frank Miller graphic novels began trickling into bookstores. Soon enough, Hollywood paved the way for Bollywood to realise the potential in turning their films into comic book formats. Recently, actor Shah Rukh Khan launched his upcoming film Ra.One's graphic novel version, G.One — The Journey Begins. Another film, Shaadi of the Dead, starring actor Abhay Deol, released Zombie Talkies: Blood Fest In Bollywood. The trend is here to stay if you take into account India's first Comic Con Express that will soon entice Mumbai's comic book community in October end.
Earlier this year, the Comic Convention at Dilli Haat received tremendous feedback that got the organisers thinking. It snowballed into India's very own Comic Con Express, a travelling version that will tour a different city each year. This time, it will be aamchi Mumbai.
Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India and Pop Culture Publishing, explains, "Bollywood taking to comic books is a very good thing. It brings more attention to the industry backed by star power. Right now the comic book industry, though growing, is still niche. Anything that brings the spotlight on it and helps it grow is welcome. People are trying out different genres and creating original characters, it's all quite exciting."
Actor Kunal Kapoor, who will be playing the comic character of Doga in his upcoming film, is an ardent comic book fan. He will in no way miss the event. "It's very exciting that a Comic Con is coming here. Internationally, everyone from filmmakers like Steven Spielberg to Steven Soderbergh, is part of comic cons," he says. The actor's favourites include Watchmen, Lone Wolf and Cub, American Vampire and Scalped.
Another comic book lover, singer Sukhwinder Singh says, "Comic books have a calming effect on me. I still enjoy reading Chandamama. And yes, there are some films and characters that can be told beautifully through comic books."
There will be book launches, workshops, special previews and a costume contest.

Musician AR Rahman reveals his rarely seen private side as he talks about his children and his music colloborations

'I'm trying to be strict'

Musician AR Rahman reveals his rarely seen private side as he talks about his children and his music colloborations

He may be a global phenomenon, but music maestro AR Rahman is a very private person. You understand this when you ask the Oscar winner about his children venturing into singing career. His son Ameen sang a track for the Hollywood film, Couples Retreat, while his daughter Khatija lent her voice to a song for South hit Enthiran. But Rahman laughs when you ask him if he trains them: "No, not really. I think when they learn they have to be very strict with the training. And I'm trying to be strict. How much that can work out in the end, we'll have to see."
In the city to present Bismillah of Benares, a 50-minute documentary on classical musician Ustad Bismillah Khan, with director Nasreen Munni Kabir, Rahman opens up about the genre: "He was one of my favourites from the time when I was working with Ilayaraja. I wanted to learn the instrument shehnai, so I bought it and when I played it, I started coughing for a week. It's a difficult instrument, not meant for everyone. Then when I started listening to him, I realised he made it seem so easy. I invited him when he came for a concert in Chennai; he charmed us all. When I learnt that Munni was making a documentary, I knew I had to join hands with her."
Rahman's latest collaboration with Western rocker Mick Jagger on Satyameva Jayate was another feather in his cap. Would he work with Mick again? "The album's just released and it depends on the reception it gets. Even then it's a huge statement from India. I'm sure that more people will be inspired to do such cross-cultural collaborations. I was quite sceptical about it, I wasn't sure people would like it. I'm so glad they did," he says.
He's also here to launch his album Connections. But as of now, Rahman is busy building his academy back in Chennai, where he teaches classical and Sufi music, into a rock solid one. Wouldn't he want to open an academy in Mumbai? "Once I perfect the one back home, things might change. Till then I'll enjoy the Chennai heat!" he signs off.

Guess what superstar Shah Rukh Khan's biggest regret is? Not being able to sing.
"It's my greatest want in life…I wish I could sing," says King Khan. But the actor seems to have started to work on it already and is seeking help from close pals — actor Priyanka Chopra and filmmaker/actor Farhan Akhtar to keep him updated on the same. "I have asked all my friends – Priyanka (Chopra), Farhan (Akhtar) and Arun, who does my make-up and hair… I said 'guys can you please give me some new music.' They are now making a mix for me in an iPod," says Shah Rukh. "This will help me understand what my kids are listening to, my daughter particularly."
While the track Chamak Challo from his upcoming film is creating a rage in the market, Shah Rukh maintains he listens to it when it is playing on his radio car. "My directors tell me that Shah Rukh when you lipsync a song, it kind of feels good…and get me to lipsync even if the song does not require it. Dildara is one of those song that the director forced me to lipsync," he says.

The actor reveals that he's let go off interesting offers because of his inability to sing. "Like when I was asked by (musician) Andrew Lloyd Webber to do a show with him in London. 'I'll teach you how to sing', he told me. But I know I can't sing (smiles). I tried it once in Josh with Apun bola tu meri Laila…"
But one thing he definitely makes sure to take time out from his hectic schedule is to cook. "I'm beginning to learn how to cook Italian food. And I'd love to cook for my kids. My mom and dad were great cooks…We had restaurants. So it's high time I learn cooking too," he dimples adding, "I make fantastic omelette though!

'Skinny is not flattering' ...says actor Anushka Sharma about the controversies around her weight loss

'Skinny is not flattering'
...says actor Anushka Sharma about the controversies around her weight loss

Bollywood hottie Anushka Sharma's gaunt appearance at a recent party fuelled speculations of her having become sub size zero and an anorexic.

There has been much speculations surrounding your recent weight loss. Comment.
I have no clue really where this came from. I have always had a natural lean structure since the time I was a kid. Had you seen me before I became an actor, you would've found me to be even more thin. My father is lean and so am I — those are my genes. One and a half years back I started weight training because it makes me look toned and improves my posture. If I don't work out, I lose weight. That is my body type. I am lean, tall girl with big muscles.

What about you being sub-size zero?
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. There is nothing known as size zero. I am a size 8, UK. To call me sub zero is ridiculous. 8 is a very healthy size. Being skinny is not a compliment for someone who wants to put on weight, it's frustrating. The world is obsessed with being overweight. If you are happy the way you are its fine.

Besides your weight, there's also been talks of rivalry with actor Sonakshi Sinha.
I am completely clueless because I have met her once, socially. It is so disrespectful to compare me with a girl who has just done one film. I am not going to sit and fight with her for a boy, (Ranveer), it's so ridiculous!

'India is poised to become a world power' ...says renowned Australian astrologer Dadhichi Toth, even as he talks about his Indian connections

'India is poised to become a world power'
...says renowned Australian astrologer Dadhichi Toth, even as he talks about his Indian connections

You've learnt astrology from Chennai-based gurus. Do you feel that India is more steeped into the science of astrology?
Yes, I still continue to study and have had the opportunity to do so with my mentor, Sri V Krishnaswamy. I have had several teachers from India over the past 30 years and they included spiritual advisers as well as astrological teachers. I have been greatly helped by these teachers. India with its history of astrological and spiritual records has presented a strong case for the study.
Where would India stand five years from now?
India is poised to become a world power if it can handle its internal political processes and bring transparency, clarity and integrity into its operations. The inequitable distribution of wealth betrays its spiritual heritage and if this can be set right, it can become a leading light to the world at large. India has the potential to be a great superpower in the coming years.
Astrological non-fiction has always worked. Do you feel fiction in this genre will work as well?
Fiction in this genre will definitely work and in fact some of my clients in Hollywood are working now on several high-end television shows. Astrological fiction will help people consider the deeper aspects of human nature and to see that this can be entertaining as well as enlightening.
What do you have to say about India?
I'm so pleased to be back in India after 12 years. Although not being physically here, I have maintained my strong links with the teachers, the culture and, of course, the astrological and spiritual philosophy. I'm hoping now that the new cycle for India after 2014 will bring in a whole new level of prosperity which will bring the country to the forefront of the world economy. In a way I have been a great exponent of India and its ancient science which was thousands of years ahead of any of the modern research is in the West.
You've predicted that in 2012, government secrets might be revealed. Isn't that related to end of the world theory?
This is not necessarily related to the end of the world theory but relates more to diplomacy and the necessity of governments at times to keep policy close to their chest. If and when some sort measures are taken in the Parliament we will see not just government across the world but personal political interests and secrets tied in with corruption payments revealed in large measure.
What are your other hobbies?
Not many know it, but I also compose music and have even recently composed for a five pieces for a new documentary which will be released shortly.

Soak in the sun Findings on vitamin B12 and D3 deficiencies in the city necessitate that you don't give sunshine a miss!

Soak in the sun

Findings on vitamin B12 and D3 deficiencies in the city necessitate that you don't give sunshine a miss!

Just when you thought that applying a sun block cream or picking up processed foods from the shelves of a supermarket was safe, you might have to think again. With a huge increase in the number of people in terms of suffering from vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 deficiencies, nutritionists advice you to take heed and act immediately on a lifestyle change. Though these deficiencies may not fall in the scary category of cancer, aids, heart attack or diabetes, if not acted upon now might lead to some major headache in the future.
Vitamin B12 is a water soluble vitamin which helps in the formation of blood and also plays an important role in the functioning of the brain and the nervous system. While vitamin D3 is a form of vitamin D that is obtained through human exposure to direct sunlight, it helps to protect adults from osteoporosis. "Personally, in the last three years 98 per cent patients have both vitamin B12 and D3 deficiencies," claims nutritionist Sujata Udeshi.
India being a tropical country leaves one wondering how it's possible to have this deficiency, when we get scorched by the sun every day. "The absorption of sunlight is either hindered or there is simply an absence of exposure to sunlight," says consulting nutritionist Pooja Makhija. The symptoms may include bone related problems, sudden joint pains. So, who's to blame for this? "Definitely our lifestyle. We are running around all day, spending more time indoors, using sun blocks in the fear of harmful UV rays," she says.
Vitamin B12 deficiency is usually considered to be found among vegetarian people. But, in recent times, more non-vegetarian people is being diagnosed with this deficiency. Sujata explains, "Sixty per cent of the non-vegetarian people suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. Some bacteria in meat products help in the formation of this vitamin in your body. But, now we mainly resolve to processed meat products. Processing food products kill all the bacteria, good and bad." The symptoms may include feeling lethargic, getting tired easily, hair loss and a low immune system.
So, how to combat both of these deficiencies? "There are oral supplements and injections. One can go for injection or oral supplement course — which lasts for six to eight weeks. Mostly injections are much more effective," says Pooja. At the end of the day simple exposure to the early morning sun for 15-20 minutes will also do wonders for you. Sujata further says that the best time for sunlight exposure is from 10 to 2 at noon. "Even if you can walk for half an hour at 10 on a Sunday morning, it will help you a great deal," adds Sujata.

Raageshwari's new passion

An ancient set of Tibetan rites are getting singer Raageshwari Loomba all enthusiastic these days

Singer, spiritual savant and yoga practitioner – Raageshwari Loomba is all of the aforesaid, who for the last five months has been practicing a relatively unexplored form of yoga, which is revving up her insides. "In these last few months I've been feeling increased vigour, dynamic energy and an alignment of my chakras (energy centres) that I've never quite experienced before," she says. It's a practice that she wants to share as far and wide as possible. "It's not a new form of yoga, it's more than 2,500 years old," she clarifies of her new exercise passion.
Called the ancient Tibetan rites, it's a series of yogic postures adopted by Buddhist monks of yore which has been made contemporary by the DVD she's just released on it. "The body of yoga is wide and what the Tibetan monks did was to distil its essence in a set of easy-to-perform exercises that practically anybody can execute. It takes me six minutes every morning to perform and balances one's body, mind and emotions into a synergetic whole."
However, this is just a part of the healthy lifestyle that the singer observes as a whole. She also eats healthy ("lots of fruits and vegetables every day), meditates and is aiming to do her best work as a singer yet with the upcoming release of her Sufi album which has a spiritual basis in her life. "I believe that my body is a temple and that the mind and the body have an inseparable connection." No wonder she's smiling most of the time when one meets her and has a life state that almost touches the skies.

Hrithik'S GANG OF GIRLS Actors Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma have come onboard for Hrithik Roshan's reality show finale

Hrithik'S GANG OF GIRLS

Actors Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma have come onboard for Hrithik Roshan's reality show finale

Interestingly, two Bollywood heroines who have not starred with actor Hrithik Roshan in any film till date have joined hands to make his reality show finale a memorable one. Actors Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone will be two of the four stars who have agreed to dance with Hrithik in the finale of his reality show. Priyanka Chopra, who has done Krissh, and is now doing Agneepath is also schedule to shoot with him for his reality show.
"Hrithik wants his finale to be a memorable one and that is why he has asked some of his friends if they can come and dance with him on his show. The first ones who readily agreed to his request were Priyanka and Deepika. Anushka also later communicated that she will also come and shoot with Hrithik," says a source.
Interestingly, Priyanka has not shot with Hrithik as yet while Anushka and Deepika have not yet signed a movie opposite him.
"They will start rehearsing very soon for the show and Hrithik is very happy with them because they were the first to respond. Hrithik has been very pally with them off late despite the fact that they haven't signed any film together. The audience have not seen them together and hence all the pairings are fresh. Right now, the shoot schedules are being sorted out and Hrithik wants to showcase a finale of a stature that has never happened before. However, the girls will shoot with Hrithik separately and hence they won't be together in any frame," the source adds.

Traditional embroidery gets lapped up internationally

Unlike the tribal print which seems to be on its way out, there is something chic, classy and enduring about Ikat prints. No longer restricted to just feminine designs, Ikat now also blends well in men's wardrobes.
Recently at the New York, Milan and London fashion weeks, the runways saw Ikat prints — not only on dresses, but also on men's shirts, trousers and ties. This love for Ikat on the global fashion scene makes us wonder what makes this print an international fashion phenomenon. After Hrs asked desi designers about the enduring fashion print.
Fashion designer Nachiket Barve says its traditional-yet-contemporary feel makes it a hit. He adds, "Ikat is an age old technique of decoration across the globe. India, Uzbekistan, Turkey etc. have been using it for its graphic vibrant timelessness. I, too, interpreted it in moth wing patterns done in embroidery. Also another feature of Ikat that makes it special is its traditional-yet-modern appeal."
Designer Pria Kataria Puri seconds it saying, "Ikat print is very versatile as it's geometric print style is classic almost like Asian checks and tartans. The print looks good in semi formal, casual silhouettes especially dresses and blouses makes it a perfect fit for resort wear. It doesn't make the body appear bigger as it's shading effect is subtle and not over-bearing!"
Designer Anupama Dayal adds that its universal presence in different traditions works in its favour. "Ikat is precious. The universal language of graphics makes it irresistible to all cultures. Also, historically there is presence of Ikat textile in several places across the world in variations. It was always a world product!"

No time for birthdays? Actor Ranbir Kapoor will be working all through the day on his birthday today

No time for birthdays?

Actor Ranbir Kapoor will be working all through the day on his birthday today

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who turns 29 today, has decided to begin the year on a good note — and that's by working throughout the day.
The young actor, who's been linked to many of his co-stars in the past year, has decided to put all that behind him and concentrate on his films at hand. What better way to begin than on one's birthday. Ranbir is going to be on the sets all day long shooting for Anurag Basu's Barfee in Andheri with actor Priyanka Chopra.
Ranbir has been shooting non-stop for the past couple of months, and has no plans of taking a break. Says a source close to the actor, "After Rockstar, he instantly started shooting for Barfee as he had already allotted dates for the same. Had he asked for a day off on his birthday, Anurag wouldn't have refused, considering his dedication to work, but Ranbir chose to work on the day as that is what he wishes to do all year long. He is very serious about his work, and it's his priority now."
As soon as the crew realised that Ranbir was going to be at work, they decided to plan a surprise bash for him. The source adds, "We have decided to surprise him by bringing in his birthday on the sets. A surprise bash is being planned and he has no idea we have organised a small party to celebrate."
Ranbir, who's very close to his mother, former actor Neetu Kapoor, spends the day with her on most of his birthdays. This is one time of the year, the duo indulge in some heavy-duty mother-son bonding. In the evening he then plans to catch-up with his friends for either dinner or go out partying with them.

Dippy's bonding with Johnny Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone was spotted speeding on London roads with actor John Abraham

Dippy's bonding with Johnny

Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone was spotted speeding on London roads with actor John Abraham

Actor John Abraham who has been in the news of late for his break-up with actor Bipasha Basu is single and understandably having fun. With the kind of attention he gets from the fairer sex, John is not averse to having a good time. Yet, while he does not deny meeting women and going out with them, he says he isn't dating anyone in particular. Actor Bipasha Basu has apparently moved on and is content with her single status and John too seems to have made a couple of new friends in Bollywood, some extremely special to him.
One name that is right on top of the list is actor Deepika Padukone. The good-looking actors have been paired together in Rohit Dhavan's Desi Boyz, their first film together. Deepika and John apparently took an instant liking to each other. A source from the unit in London says, "Dippy and John are always together, chatting up or just playing pranks. They are often spotted going out for coffee or grabbing lunch together. It is obvious that they are fond of each other."
Recently Dippy asked John to take her on a bike ride on the streets of London. The source adds, "John loves bikes and Deepika too is very fond of two-wheelers. She was very excited to ride pillion on John's VMax. After the shoot wrapped up, she asked him to take her on a ride on the streets of London. John was more than happy to show her around London on his bike. They were gone for quite some time, came back giggling and laughing and full of stories to narrate on the sets. They are both young, having fun and clearly enjoying each other's company."
While John has been quite open about his fondness for Dippy, we wonder if she echoes the same thoughts.

'I never miss playing dandiya' …says actor Prachi Desai who'll be shooting in Jaipur during the Navratri festivities that begin today

'I never miss playing dandiya'

…says actor Prachi Desai who'll be shooting in Jaipur during the Navratri festivities that begin today

Actor Prachi Desai is all set for a dandiya party, even though she's shooting in Jaipur.
"I never miss playing dandiya. This year I am away from Mumbai, shooting for Bol Bachchan in Jaipur, but that doesn't deter me from playing dandiya. My co-star Abhishek (Bachchan) and director Rohit are in for a surprise on the sets! I will be in Jaipur in the days leading up to Diwali and am really looking forward to shop in Jaipur for some lovely silver jewelry and clothes from here. The city is just so beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely!" she exclaims.
Proud to be a Gujarati, Prachi opines that Navratri has graduated from being a Gujarati festival to a national festival a long time ago. "I went to college in Pune and despite being away from Gujarat, there were lots of celebrations there too! This is a festival for the young, who get to go out and dress in traditional attire and have fun at the same time," she adds.
She knows that she is considered one of the most recognisable faces from the Gujarati community. "This is a huge compliment that comes with a great responsibility too. I accept it with absolute humility," says the actor.
Prachi says that she's not going to allow the fact that she's away from home to spoil her Navratri celebrtions. "Most of my last few years have seen me work through Navratri, but I did manage to get time to go back home last year and spend time in Gujarat with my family and friends there. It's usually a time for re-unions with friends and close family," she said.

Tapping LOL moments! After Hrs finds out why Indian television is going back to the good old era of comedy shows and funny family dramas

Tapping LOL moments!
After Hrs finds out why Indian television is going back to the good old era of comedy shows and funny family dramas

Indian television was at its peak during the 80's and 90's with shows like Hum Paanch, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Shrimaan Shrimati and others being extremely popular. While there was a certain section of audience dedicated to daily soaps, comedy as a genre, was clearly the most popular. Even recently, shows like Khichdi, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai and Office Office has managed to carve a niche for themselves in an era where reality shows are flooding every channel.
Sukesh Motwane, programming head, Zee, explains the phenomenon. Though the channel does not have a dedicated show in terms of comedy for its content, they try and infuse comedy in their reality shows and daily soaps. "Every channel has its own positioning in terms of its content. For us when it comes to comedy, we try and incorporate it within our daily soaps. We have a few soaps that have a slightly comic feel like Ram Milaye Jodi. Same goes for Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein where a lot of characters have a comic side to them. While soaps and family dramas are definitely the genre that works the best, comedy can be infused within these shows as well."
The success of shows like The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Comedy Circus is encouraging channels to take the genre more seriously. Sab TV is one of the only channels to probably focus entirely on comedy and have shows dedicated to this genre. Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma is one of their most famous shows. Aatish Kapadia, a TV show producer and writer of Khichdi, a popular comedy show, says the repeat value is the distinguishing factor. "Not just in Indian television but otherwise as well, comedy works because unlike daily soaps, you can watch it as many times and still not get bored. A laugh is a laugh and people today want to see clean comedy shows, be it men, women or children. It also works as a stress-buster at the end of a hard day."
Anurag Bedi, business head of Zee Cafe, says, "Indian audience is more inclined to comedy genre, and this can be justified with the fact that around 80 per cent of successful movies in our country belong to the comedy genre. Considering that as a driving factor, most of the comedy shows lined up during prime-time bands on Zee Cafe, Mike & Molly, The Big Bang Theory, Cougar Town, Californication et al all bear witness to it."

'Women love watching shows in their mother tongue' ...feels TV mogul Siddharth Basu about his popular quiz show on going regional

'Women love watching shows in their mother tongue'
...feels TV mogul Siddharth Basu about his popular quiz show on going regional

Being an ace quizmaster, TV producer-director Siddharth Basu feels it's important to get India's various aspects into limelight in television shows. Which is why his show Kaun Banega Crorepati will try to tap the South audience by doing a Malayalam and a Tamil version. Ask him whether television, like cinema, will focus on regional content and Basu replies, "Yes, viewers, especially women, love watching shows in their mother tongue. Therefore we want to tap this space as it is growing rapidly. And South is already strong on regional content and hence Tamil and Malayalam versions seem to be the best bet. We're in talks with several actors for hosting the show. Let's see how it goes from here. But it will be big for sure!"
Talking about the new facelift the quiz show got this season, Basu says, "We realised that since the show has been on for so long, it's time we reached every nook and corner of India that many have not even heard of. Luckily we got contestants whose back stories were so moving that we decided to highlight them and came up with the punchline, Koi insaan chhota nahi hota. Every human being has some extraordinary quality to inspire many others. In fact, now after Bhojpuri and Bangla we are trying to mark our foray in to South."
Basu feels the show is also a big hit due to superstar Amitabh Bachchan. "He is a craze in the whole of India. His presence just changed everything for good for the show. And now after 11 years, this craze still continues," he smiles. The show is set to hit its 500th episode benchmark soon.
Priyanka plays It safe!
The actor has instructed her staff to ensure that she doesn't face any questions about actor Shah Rukh Khan

Considering how talks about the gehri dosti between actors Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan has been gaining ground, it's come to light that PC has now imposed a ban on people asking her questions about SRK. Her publicists, sources say, have been instructed by the actor to ensure that nobody gets to ask any question about SRK.
"Priyanka will talk about anything under the sun, but not a word about Shah Rukh Khan. If anybody wants to talk to the actor, her publicist will first get in touch with them to ask what would the questions be about. Then will come a warning, 'Priyanka won't talk to you ever if you ask a question on Shah Rukh Khan'. She won't talk about him,' the publicist would say. Even if you wriggle past that line and manage to ask the question to Priyanka, she just wouldn't answer," says a source.
This clampdown on questions was earlier reserved about actor Shahid Kapoor who she was allegedly seeing a few months back. "She would say 'I don't want to talk about my personal life,' whenever you would drop a question about Shahid. Now, the same response and plan of action is reserved for SRK. Interestingly, the clampdown on Shahid no longer seems to be there," the source adds.
According to sources, SRK's wife Gauri Khan is extremely upset with Priyanka after rumours of them getting rather pally broke out and even chose not to speak to her at the Eid party hosted at Mannat. "Priyanka is extremely jittery about SRK. The gushing, mushy giggles that used to come from her at the very mention of his name are all gone now. Now, what you get is a stare and a cold silence," the source adds.

Where's Chitrangda? The actor has strangely been missing from the posters of Desi Boyz. Is there more to it than meets the eye?

Where's Chitrangda?

The actor has strangely been missing from the posters of Desi Boyz. Is there more to it than meets the eye?

Chitrangda

The promotions for Rohit Dhavan's directorial debut, Desi Boyz have begun in full swing and the first step in the marketing strategy is releasing the posters. While there are two posters with actors John Abraham and Akshay Kumar in shorts, actor Deepika Padukone who is missing in the first poster features in the second one. Along with Deepika, actor Chitrangda Singh too is playing a parallel lead and it is quite surprising that the lady is missing from both the posters.

Chitrangda plays an absolutely different role in the film, much different from anything that she has played till date and the reason for her absence is being given as guarding her look. A source from the sets says, "Chitrangda has gone all out in the film and will be seen playing an extremely sensuous role. She has even done an extremely racy salsa number in the film and you have to see it to really believe it. She looks gorgeous, but the production guys made sure nobody was around while the number was being shot. They didn't want her look to be leaked out and took all necessary measures."
Rohit too says that she doesn't feature in the posters only because she plays the surprise element in the film. "Chitrangda comes at a very important junction in the film. No one would expect an entry in that situation. I want to maintain the intrigue value and surprise element even in the teaser posters."
While it does seem like they are guarding her look, it won't come as a surprise to us if there is some controversy involved, especially because there are two actresses in question here. Well, all we would say is wait and watch.

'Bollywood is colourful' Hollywood's most popular werewolf, Taylor Lautner reveals his encounter with an Indian werewolf

'Bollywood is colourful'

Hollywood's most popular werewolf, Taylor Lautner reveals his encounter with an Indian werewolf

So what if he doesn't manage to get Bella's love and just her affection, Hollywood hottie Taylor Lautner has managed to capture the imagination of women across the world, even if he's just 19 as the werewolf in the Twilight film series. However, it's another teenage 'werewolf' who's on his agenda — an Indian boy called Pruthviraj Patil. Patil is one of about 50 people in the world who suffers from Hypertrichosis, a rare genetic condition known as 'Werewolf Syndrome' where the face and body is covered in thick, matted hair. Taylor says that he still treasures his hush-hush visit to India to meet the boy and pay for his treatment.
"My most unforgettable Indian memory has to be when I visited the 13-year-old 'werewolf' boy suffering from Hypertrichosis. I read about it in a tabloid and wanted to remain anonymous about helping the boy, but the guy was so happy he told everyone right after my visit to India," recalls Taylor.
Taylor also admits that charity for children is something that is dear to his heart and he would love to take it up for India. "In the States, I'm associated with The Lollipop Theatre Network, a children's charity," he says.
While talking Bollywood, the teenage heartthrob admits that a Bollywood role would be an ideal deviation from his werewolf roles. "I have not yet had the chance to see an Indian film, but would love to see one. Have heard a lot about Bollywood, the songs, dances and the colours," he says.
Even though he is turning into an action hero in the film Abduction, Taylor doesn't rule out turning a filmmaker someday. "I've always been super-interested in all aspects of film. Ever since I was in video production class in high school, it was a dream of mine to be involved in movie-making, not only in front of the camera, but behind the camera as well," he adds.
Being an action hero at the age of 19 can be emotionally challenging, admits Taylor. "When I read the original script, the story was just so, I read it like a book. I could just not stop turning the pages… It was a challenging role for me and that's what I wanted to do next," he said.

Mick Jagger may go missing

Musician might not be able to attend the music festival hosted by Jodhpur royal, Gaj Singh

Musician Mick Jagger might not be able to attend the upcoming Jodhpur International Folk Festival (RIFF) of which he is the chief patron along with Maharaja Gaj Singh from the erstwhile royal family of Jodhpur.
"We are yet to be informed if Mick Jagger will be attending the festival. If he comes, he comes as a patron and friend to support the festival which he believes in and enjoys," says Singh.
Jagger, of late, has been busy promoting his new band, which also includes Indian musician AR Rahman.
"We'll be very happy when he makes it and are always ready to receive him at Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur," he adds.
But even though Mick Jagger doesn't perform at the festival, there's an interesting line-up for the festival, informs Singh. "We have some interesting and varied music from across the world... The Band of Brothers from Australia, amongst the best instrumentalists from Down Under. Davy Sicard, the incredible voice from the Reunion Island. And there is Ani Choying from Nepal and Yuri Honing from the Netherlands. And of course, Jason Singh from the UK and Rupa and April Fishes from San Francisco (Artist of the Year 2010, Songlines magazine) will be permorming," he says, adding that best part of the festival is the participation of his son Shivraj, the former poster boy from Rajasthan, who recently got married in true royal style.
" We are all extremely happy for Shivraj and our daughter-in-law and look forward to their joining us. The family has and will always be an integral part of the development of RIFF. It is a special occasion for us all and with Shivraj now married, it will be even more special. As in previous years, we will try to attend every performance that we can and enjoy the festival with our friends and fellow audience members," he ends.

4 Fridays, 18 releases A record number of films are getting released in the span of four Fridays

4 Fridays, 18 releases

A record number of films are getting released in the span of four Fridays

Four Fridays: 18 releases! That's what's on offer at the BO in the coming few days, starting this week and the cinema-goers can be expected to be spoilt for choice. The months following Eid in the second half of the year is what's now considered a ripe period in the industry, when most films line up for release. And while the first half was ruled by cricket seasons and examinations, the second half is all about bumper releases, in quantity at least. And interestingly, one Friday (September 30) will have as many as seven releases, one of the highest releases on a day this year.
And while films ready to lock horns at the BO, it's promising to be quite a treat for cinema-goers with the variety being offered too. According to trade analysts, so many films being released together will definitely eat into each other's business, but feel that it's something that just couldn't be avoided. "It would not have been a wise decision to release films in the first half of this year, as it was predominantly cricket based. Naturally, it's a risk releasing so many films together now, but a better one in comparison," explains trade analyst Komal Nahta. "Besides, the mix is rather interesting, with small budget flicks being released alongside biggies and mainstream cinema jostling for space with zara hatke stuff," adds analyst Taran Adarsh. "Also the competition will only get fiercer towards year end, with Ra.One, The Dirty Picture, Rockstar, Don 2, so it's in fact, wise to release films in this period, when essentially there's only one main biggie releasing on an average," adds Nahta.
A senior distributor however feels that most of the films will do predictable business, even if they were solo releases. "It's easy to spot the winners. Of course, there're bound to be surprises too, but that's the name of the game," said the film veteran, adding, "Good films will always find takers."

It's chillar party over Hrithik

…for actor Shah Rukh Khan, who's being chased by TV shows to be their grand finale guest

The grand finale of any reality show is always as big as the opening of the show — right from gigs to raking in biggies to announce the winners. In the coming month of October, the race to get the biggest stars will heat up among three major channels telecasting the grand finale shows of their respective reality shows. It's not just TRPs that channels are competing for — buzz is they are battling to get actor Shah Rukh Khan as their finale guest. It's been reported that the actor had planned to go for buddy, actor Hrithik Roshan's dance show Just Dance's finale, but insiders claim otherwise. Apparently the superstar will be attending the telecast of the grand finale of Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs which is being telecast on the same day as Hrithik's show.
"Shah Rukh has confirmed his attendance for the grand finale show on 1st October, not just as the grand finale special guest, but also as a part of his super hero film Ra.One. And as superheroes are close to kids, Li'l Champs finale seem to be the right platform for him to connect with the kids. We have no clue if he will also be going to some other channel as a finale guest!" says a source. The other show apparently also trying to rope in Shah Rukh as the grand finale guest is India's got Talent 3, which has actor Dharmendra as the star attraction.
