'Please let me announce my marriage'
…says actor Genelia D'Souza, who's been in the news for her 'friendship' with actor Riteish Deshmukh
Ever since she stepped into the industry, actor Genelia D'Souza has been linked to actor Riteish Deshmukh. Recently, it was reported that the duo, who'll be seen in a film together again after their last film Masti, are getting married. But Genelia is not amused and clearly irked by the constant speculation on her personal life :
So, are you getting married?
Despite clarifying this several times before, people still jump to conclusions about my marriage. My marriage has been on everybody's mind from the past five years and now, I really don't know what to say. No, I am not getting married. If and when I do, I would want to talk about it. It is an appeal to people to stop speculating. Please let me announce my marriage.
Do these rumours affect you?
I keep thinking that I shouldn't react as the issue escalates.
At times, it is disturbing as we are in the public eye. When families are involved, it gets a little unwarranted.
So what is the kind of bond you share with Riteish?
Riteish and I have been friends with the longest. We have known each other for a really long time. We made out debut together and today both of us have grown tremendously as actors and as well as people.
Is he your 3 am friend?
Well, he is a friend I can pick up the phone and talk to at any time of the day.
Your chemistry with John Abraham is the talk of the town. Are you friends off the sets too?
John and I have known each other for a while. He is a really cool guy and we both can have a conversation about anything. It is not like we meet up regularly and go for coffee but when we meet we talk a lot. We have a lot in common.
Like?
We both are Bandra kids, both outsiders to the industry and we are punctual as hell. We are also early risers so both of us would be ready with hair, makeup, et all for a 7 am morning call. But he is too dedicated while working out.
And you aren't?
I do not work out at all. In fact John was the one who pushed me to go to the gym and work out. He said, working out is like investing for a long run. That really did it for me and for sometime we were working out with the same trainer as well.
