Clear out the smokey eyes and add the '60s winged eyeliner to soar like an evergreen star
This season, add wings to your eye makeup and migrate to the '60s era. The famous winged eyeliner worn by divas such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly in the '60s had not only inspired late singer Amy Winehouse and the new league of stars such as Angelina Jolie, Eva Mendes and Dita Von Teese and, among others, but has also led runway makeup artists to use the style for the fall 2011 collections of various international designers. From Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Moschino, Lanvin to Christian Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier; the models were seen strutting the ramp with winged eye makeup. Closer home Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor have also been spotted in this makeup.
Makeup artist Bimla Topo says, “Winged eyeliner or the cat eye makeup is back with a bang. It is a refreshing change from the smokey eye makeup that we see all the time.“ Makeup artist Ashima says, “Cat eye liner enhances, defines and opens up the eyes; especially the round shaped eyes, as it creates an elongated effect making them appear striking.“ The easy-to-do makeup goes well with pale or neutral lip shades. For more drama one may apply faux lashes and turn into a '60s diva.
