Young actor Ranbir Kapoor and politico Rahul Gandhi are the top contenders on an online poll as the country's Most Eligible Bachelors
Topping the poll conducted by a popular website Ranbir Kapoor proved yet again that he's Bollywood most desirable. Living upto the Kapoor legend -scion Ranbir was also recently voted the country's Most Eligible Bachelor. Ranbir got the highest number of votes and the credit apparently goes to his open lifestyle as Gen-X youth icon and one of the fastest growing brand equities in Bollywood. Ranbir who has always been popular with the fairer sex since his debut film has a legacy to boast of along with his good looks. He has become even more popular after his break-up with Deepika Padukone and his constant 'I am single' one liners.
A source close to the actor says, "Ranbir comes right after the Khans in the list of endorsements, and if you count cricketers, only after Sachin and Dhoni. Marketing research has proved that Ranbir Kapoor is all that is synonymous with the Gen-X category allowing him to stand shoulder to shoulder with industry iconics." Explaining the young actor's propularity, advertising expert Santosh Desai says, "Ranbir has an instant connect with the youth. He is a combination of pedigree, personality and success that attracts brands to him. He is charming and endearing. He is playful and doesn't take himself too seriously. Ranbir has still to achieve that bankability factor. But that day is not too far off."
While Ranbir and Rahul Gandhi are gunning for the top spot, the poll also includes names like Shahid Kapoor and Sidhartha Mallya.
