Actor Amitabh Bachchan waives off fee for Hollywood filmmaker Baz Luhrmann's film as a 'friendly gesture'

After the official announcement of actor Amitabh Bachchan joining the cast of Hollywood film The Great Gatsby, it is learned that he also waived off the fee for the film.
Confirming this, Bachchan who's active on the social networking scene, wrote about his friendship with Baz Luhrmann, the filmmaker of the film. "My participation in Baz Luhrmann's film The Great Gatsby is a mere one scene appearance as a friendly gesture. Baz Luhrmann during his private visit to India last year, had dropped by my office to meet me and presented me with some paintings of a prominent painter accompanying him. He called last month and wondered if I would do this small role in his film and I agreed. It is a gesture. I have refused any remuneration on this too."

While the decision to make a Hollywood appearance came after many years, the actor is unsure if his Hollywood stint will make way for the rest of the Bollywood actors. He further wrote, "Whether this little presence of mine is designed to open up 'floodgates for more actors and collaborations' would be utterly presumptuous by any reckoning on my part."

While he is proud of Bollywood, he had a wonderful experience working with the team in Australia as well. The actor was recently in Sydney for a script reading and costume and look rehearsals. He wrote, "It has been a wonderful experience to be a part of their system and to observe with what detail and diligence they work."
The cast of the film also includes Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role.
