Actor Arjun Rampal, who is looking forward to three back-to-back
releases, reveals why he has no qualms about working in women-centric
films

It’s been a busy year for actor Arjun Rampal. While
the first half of 2012 saw the actor shoot round-the-clock, the second
half will have Arjun make as many as three big screen outings.
Kickstarting with Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar with Chitrangda Singh, the
actor will then be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine opposite Kareena
Kapoor. Also under his belt is Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh with Abhay Deol
and Esha Gupta. Point out that both Inkaar and Heroine seem to be
woman-centric films, and Arjun says that he has no qualms in doing any
film as long as it’s a role that he believes in and the director is
someone he can trust. “I look at them as character-driven not
actor-driven films,” he explains. But aren’t they risky for a ‘hero’?
“Not only these, but most of my films have seemed like risks when I took
them on, some have worked, others have not. But I am glad that I’ve
never conformed to set rules,” says the National Award winner. The actor
adds that what makes it interesting is that none of the roles are
anything like he has done before. “So all my roles, be it in Inkaar,
Heroine or Chakravyuh, are completely different from each other and
that’s always been a criteria, doing different and interesting films,”
adds Arjun. “The length or genre doesn’t matter. If the subject
interests me, I am in,” he elaborates.
Among his co-stars, Kareena is someone he has worked with earlier too. “Yes this is my third film with her and it’s always a pleasure working with Bebo,” says Arjun. As for the intimate scenes he has performed with her in Heroine, Arjun joked at an event that those are moments he will always cherish. “Whenever I feel a little out, I just close my eyes and… I am smiling!” laughed Arjun. But when asked about his equation with Kareena’s beau, actor Saif Ali Khan, he added that they are both “quite the perfect gentlemen”, so there’s no bad blood at all. |
