Actor Dia Mirza, who takes her social responsibility
seriously, says actors are fortunate to have a voice that can influence
and motivate people to work for our betterment. The actor, who recently
won an award for being environmentally conscious says she always does
her bit to have a green environment around. “It feels great to receive
an award that is beyond the work you do in films. It is a special
feeling. Being a known face, I have the good fortune of getting people’s
attention and I have always been responsible about projecting what
needs to be told. We are all citizens of the country and it is our
responsibility as much as it is anyone else’s,” says Dia.
The actor, who was recently at an awards function in Singapore was praised for her sartorial sense. Even otherwise, Dia is always been written about for her clothes, but she doesn’t seem to think of herself as a style icon. “I have never considered myself to be a style icon. I love putting things together. If people like it, that’s very flattering. When I dress up, it isn’t with any intention to look like a diva or an icon. I wear things that make me feel good, make me feel beautiful,” gushes the pretty actor. While she doesn’t take her style icon tag too seriously, she is definitely thankful to God for having given her a chance to be able to connect with so many people. “I feel blessed to be here. I don’t look at being famous as a disadvantage. When a stranger looks at you, calls out your name and asks you for an autograph, it makes you feel extremely special,” says Dia. She is also quite popular on the micro-blogging site, Twitter as she makes it a point to interact with her fans there. “It has been a wonderful platform but it all depends on how you treat it. I enjoy getting feedback and talking to my fans. You also receive stuff that you don’t expect but I think it’s a fantastic platform.” |
