I am looking forward to a quiet cup of tea with my family: Big B
Amitabh Bachchan’s 70th birthday celebrations culminated with the inauguration of the exhibition — B Seventy — that had 70 artworks by different artists. The event was put together by his wife Jaya and inaugurated by Kokilaben Ambani. When asked if they had bid for any of the artworks, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said, “We want the world to have a look at all the works and take their pick before we bid for anything.” NeitherBachchan, nor the rest of the family
could pick their favourite. Artists brought out the legend’s persona with works in various mediums. Jaya was keen that senior Bachchan take a look at Satish Gupta’s artwork that interprets the Sanskrit meaning of Amitabh’s name, which means ‘the infinite light’. Gupta depicted it with 70 Buddhas on canvas. Abhishek was impressed by Arzan Khambatta’s sculpture that is inspired by Bachchan on his KBC chair. When leaving the venue, Big B said, “The two-day celebrations have been great. Now I am looking forward to a
quiet cup of tea with my family.” After the inauguration of the exhibition, the Bachchan family and their guests headed for dinner hosted by Tina and Anil Ambani. Ketan Kadam of Two One Two Bar and Grill ensured that the guests enjoyed a delicious spread at the restaurant.

Bachchan, along with Piyush Pandey, has put together a book, which has
pictures of the artworks on display at the exhibition. Along with the
images it also has notes from each artist explaining their thoughts
behind their creation. Psst... Anil Ambani was heard asking Kumar
Mangalam Birla which art pieces he planned to buy. Birla jokingly
replied that Anil must have picked up the best ones already.
