Home alone model found dead; cops suspect revenge

A 23-year-old aspiring model was found murdered at her
residence in Andheri (West) on Monday night. Her husband, who was at
work, found her in a pool of blood when he returned in the evening.
A case of murder has been registered against unknown person/s at the DN Nagar police station. The post-mortem report said she was killed by a sharp object. There were injury marks on her neck and cheek. A police officer said, “Her husband returned home around 9pm. He knocked several times. When she didn’t open the door, he opened it with his key and found her lying unconscious. Pieces of glass from a broken glass table were found around her.” “He rushed her to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital where she was declared dead before admission,” he added. The police said Bidushi Barde and her husband Kedar, 26, had been staying at their rented ground floor apartment in Four Bungalows for the past 18 months. Kedar is a software engineer and Bidushi, crowned Miss Chennai in 2006, had taken up modelling assignments in Mumbai. “Robbery doesn’t seem to be the motive as nothing is missing from the house,” said another officer. The police suspect it to be a revenge killing. “The husband left home around 7.45am. It’s possible that the killer was keeping a watch and entered the house after Kedar left,” he added. Deputy commissioner of police Pratap Dighavkar, Zone IX, said, “We are questioning the building’s two security guards if they saw someone entering the Bardes home and how many people visited the building that day. We are also checking the deceased’s mobile phone call records and SMSes that could provide a lead about the killer.” The police are in the process of collecting the CCTV footage from the building. |
