Mr. Yash Chopra..a legend of love and love stories passes away :( my condolences to all his loved ones. Deeply saddened. Rest in Peace Sir...

Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra, 80, died in Bandra’s Lilavati hospital on Sunday, a week after he was admitted and diagnosed with dengue fever.
A source said Chopra was critical during his hospital stay. “He was ill for some time and delayed coming in for treatment. After being admitted, his platelet count dropped and he suffered multiple organ failure,” said the doctor, requesting anonymity.
Chopra is survived by wife Pamela and sons filmmaker Aditya Chopra and actor-producer Uday Chopra.
Friends across the Hindi film industry expressed sadness at the passing of the ‘King of Romance’. “Yashji had a trademark style of presenting love and romance. He will be missed and remembered forever,” said filmmaker Subhash Ghai.
“I’m shocked! Yashji was a true veteran. An era is over with his passing. He’ll be missed,” said actress Kajol.
Chopra is best remembered for redefining celluloid romance in films such as Chandni, Lamhe and Dil Toh Pagal Hai. He also made social dramas, including Deewar, Trishul, Kabhie Kabhie and Silsila. Most of his films, irrespective of the genre, went on to become blockbusters.
Chopra’s death throws the spotlight on dengue fever in Mumbai that has reported the most cases in the state, according to government statistics. This rise in cases has been attributed to the fluctuating weather and extended monsoon that created a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes.
“Less than 1% of all dengue cases are fatal,” said Dr Khusrav Bajan, consultant intensivist, PD Hinduja hospital who handles at least seven cases a day. However, the old and infirm, like Chopra, fall in the high-risk category. Elderly people with co-morbid factors like diabetes and low immunity have a high risk of succumbing to dengue, emphasised Bajan.
Doctors also warned against a delay in consulting a doctor in case of fever.
“Symptoms of dengue include pain behind the eyes, body ache and high fever,” said Dr Pratit Samdhani, consultant physician, Jaslok hospital.
