AJAY, AKSHAY TO CLASH NEXT INDEPENDENCE DAY?

    Talk in the trade circuit is that August 15, 2014, could well see a clash between Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. Apparently, the former’s Singham 2 and the latter’s Gabbar are scheduled to open in cinemas next Independence Day. Interestingly, the protagonists of both these movies are righteous by character and take on evil, corrupt forces.
    A remake of the Tamil hit Ramana, Gabbar sees Akshay’s character form an anti-corruption force with his students in various government departments, after his wife and daughter die when their whole neighbourhood collapses.
    Rohit Shetty’s Singham sequel has Ajay reprising his role as an upright cop, reportedly based in Pune this time around. After Bajirao Singham inspires his department to unite against Jaykant Shikre in the first instalment set in Goa, the character is up for a bigger challenge post his relocation in the sequel. And given that the actor and director had earned praise from the Indian police with their Singham, they too feel that Independence Day is an ideal release date for them.
