WE’VE GIVEN MANY DIRECTORS A BREAK, MYSELF INCLUDED: SAJID

    In an industry where a banner is only as good as the talent it has on board, Sajid Nadiadwala has some of the biggest stars in Bollywood working with him. After actors like Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, the filmmaker has roped in directors Imtiaz Ali and Kabir Khan to work with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment on different projects.
    “Besides being a producer, I am also a big fan of their work,” says Sajid, who has teamed up with Kabir for a thriller scheduled to go on floors early October. Starring Saif and Katrina, this film will focus on the lesser-known aspects of sub-continental politics and will be shot in India, the Middle East, US and Europe.
    Then early 2014, another film — with Ranbir and Deepika—will go into production. Imtiaz, who has also worked on the romantic drama Highway for Sajid’s banner, will direct this.
    Next year definitely looks promising for Sajid, whose directorial debut film Kick with Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez is scheduled to release on Eid. “My banner has given many directors a break, myself included. Now there is a clash within me as a producer and a director as if I am two different people,” he concludes.
