FASHION WEEK ENDS ON A GRAND NOTE
In a fitting closure to the Winter/Festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week 2013, the last day saw opulence and festive colours on the ramp
The grand finale saw the stage turn into a jazz nightclub as Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased his latest designs inspired by the Lakme Absolute Royal collection. The models walked to some evergreen tunes, including the Pink Panther theme, showcasing the collection, which included sheer saris with mini skirt-petticoats, peplum-silhouetted outfits and paneled jackets and waistcoats. The outfits complemented the brand’s new makeup collection consisting of limited edition shades in Absolute creme lipsticks, Absolute Shine Line eyeliners and Absolute Royal Nail colours. Created by Lakme expert Clint Fernandes, it was dominated by accentuated red lips and smoky eyes with kohl, recreating the glamour of the jazz era.
Said Purnima Lamba, “We are proud to witness such an avantgarde interpretation of our beauty statement. Sabyasachi is synonymous with royalty. It’s been an exciting journey to co-create these contemporary royal looks with him. Be it regal colours or red lips, we’re sure to see opulence off the runways this season too.”
Former Miss World, actress and singer Priyanka Chopra dazzled on the ramp as she walked for the Bisou Bisou Reliance Trends India Collection, designed by Michele Bohbot. The collection, launched by Reliance Trends, a leading fashion destination, saw vibrant designs on the ramp. Juhi Gogoi, a beauty queen from the North East, also took to the ramp. Bisou Bisou means a little kiss in French. In its 24-year history, it has become a popular women’s brand globally. Said Michele, “Self-respect starts with expressing yourself through the clothes you wear. This collection offers the attitude and style for an everyday trendy look. I’m glad I found the right opportunity to enter India.”
Akhilesh Prasad, COO, Reliance Trends, said, “We’ve tried to democratise fashion and reach out to customers through our unique products and attractive designs. This collection will offer fashionistas an opportunity to experience latest fashion trends.”
Added Priyanka, “It was a pleasure to walk for the show as part of our Zanjeer promotions. Mala, my character in the film, is very fashionable and has a penchant for brands like these, which makes this a wonderful association.” The new collection is available in stores by the retail chain.
