Red alert for Sabya’s show

Red alert for Sabya’s show

With 1920s being high on the fashion radar, there’s going to a rather interesting Indian interpretation of the trend during designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s grand finale show at the Lakme Fashion Week. Moving away from the pop tints trend of last season, this show will have Sabya’s interpretation of Indian royalty and will also feature Lakmé’s Absolute Royal collection range and its two exquisite day and night looks.
Talking about key make up looks from his show, Sabya says he was inspired by the Lakme collection and its colour palette. He adds, “Red lips are going to be very big. Red, contrary to perception, is not just a bridal colour. It’s a colour for every woman, for every occasion. All she needs to do is find her shade. It brings out the regal part of a woman’s personality. ” Besides red, the colour gold makes for a significant part of his palette. “These two colours will be the biggest trends for next season and
this show is my interpretation of that. A woman doesn’t need a special occasion to sport these colours, just like she doesn’t need an occasion to feel like a queen. She should feel like a queen every single day of her life.”
The brand’s colour palette for this season is dominated by majestic shades in reds, blue sapphire, emerald green with accents of gold and silver. The collection champions ‘royal red’ as this season’s make-up must-have. The day look has matte skin with soft pink defined eyes with an elegant red mouth. The night look has a unique fish tail eye look, crafted using black and gold eyeliner and perfected with imperial red lips.
The creations showcased will be extremely royal, says Sabya, and will feature saris and other regal silhouettes with a modern twist. “Of course, the collection will feature my signature, but it also shas a lot of very 1920s elements. There’s gold, red, drama, art deco — the entire The Great Gatsby era is a big inspiration this season and it will feature in my show too.”
