Anurag Kashyap to be on Martin Scorsese’s jury at Marrakech Film Festival

    Academy award-winning director Martin Scorsese will be the President of the Feature Film jury in the 13th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival this year. On being the president of the jury, he said, “I’ve shot two films in Morocco and I have an eternal feeling of gratitude towards this country, its people and the royal family for having allowed me to make these movies.”
    What is interesting is that Anurag Kashyap, who has always been a huge fan of Scorsese, will be the jury member from India this year with seven others being from other countries. Speaking to us about this selection, Melita Toscan du Plantier, the festival head said, “Last year, I organised for Martin Scorsese to receive Anurag’s film Gangs Of Wasseypur post which he wrote to him saying how he loved it, but they never met. So, when I proposed to Martin to have one member of jury from India this year and suggested Anurag’s name, he said yes right away.”
    Other jury members from India in the past have been Shashi Kapoor, Deepa Mehta, Shekhar Kapur, Nandita Das and Sharmila Tagore.
