Miss India beauty Purva Rana was crowned Vice Queen at the Miss United Continent 2013 pageant


    India added yet another international title to its kitty as Miss India beauty Purva Rana was crowned Vice Queen at the Miss United Continent 2013 pageant in Guayaquil, Ecuador on Saturday. The 22-year-old from Himachal Pradesh came second in the pageant, which saw participation from 27 countries.She was also adjudged the second runner-up in the national costume round.Ecuador’s Carolina Aguirre was crowned the winner. This is the first
time India participated in the pageant.
    Hours after her victory, Purva spoke to us from Ecuador, saying, “I felt butterflies in my stomach when the result was announced as they were speaking in Spanish. But, I knew I’d won as the crowd started cheering. It’s a mini India in Guayaquil. People came with posters cheering for me, which was really special.” Post the pageant, she celebrated her win with members of the Indian embassy, who’d flown down especially to support her, Purva said.
