Bollywood’s favourite Mahabharat character
At a budget of over a hundred crores, Mahabharat is shaping up to be nothing less than a big Bollywood film. The TV show, which launches on September 16 on Star Plus, has managed to grab eyeballs with its promos. Each of the promos has showcased various characters from the epic in a unique and fascinating way. Bombay Times spoke to a few people from Bollywood and asked them who their favourite characters from the epic are and how relevant the Mahabharat is in today’s times. This is what they had to say…
SONAM KAPOOR FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Karna. WHY: Because
it is the triumph of right over wrong and good over evil. And that
gives us courage to do the right thing in this day and age.
MADHUR BHANDARKAR FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Krishna. WHY: He gave us the Bhagvad Gita, which embodies the eternal message of spiritual wisdom and essence of life.
SHILPA SHETTY FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Draupadi, Krishna. WHY: Draupadi,
as she is a woman and a very strong woman at that. Krishna Bhagwan, for
his naughty qualities and because he is God himself.
MAHIE GILL FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Arjun. WHY: His focus and dedication is what legends are made of and these qualities can be a great inspiration to actors.
RAVI KISHAN FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Krishna. WHY? If
you have to survive and live peacefully, you should follow him. You
have to be practical in today’s world. Trust people, but blind trust can
be dangerous.
CHUNKY PANDEY FAVOURITE CHARACTER: Shakuni Mama. WHY? There’s a sweet devil like him in every corner of life and somewhere within us, too. Just have to fight it.
