I advised the boys to leave embarrassment at home
Said Indra Kumar when his actors developed cold feet while shooting for bold scenes
Director Indra Kumar’s next, Grand Masti has married men — played by Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani — indulging in extramarital affairs to spice up their dull lives with disastrous consequences. Kumar, who has produced the film along with Ashok Thakeria, says the actors developed cold feet shooting bold scenes in the adult comedy, a sequel to Masti (2004). “They were embarrassed. I had to convince them we wouldn’t go overboard,” he says.
Kumar says he enacted every scene for the actors, who’d say, ‘My God, Induji, you want us to do this?’ In reply, Kumar would say, “I left embarrassment at home when I went for the shoot. I advised the boys to do the same.”
Thakeria says, “The adult theme has been retained, but we’ve come up with a story that resonates with today’s generation. We’ve also included a message to respect the institution of marriage.”
Grand Masti releases September 13.
