Smart girls for smart boxes
Smart girls like smart boxes, not idiot boxes. That’s why Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2011 Hasleen Kaur recently launched the new AKAI Smart Box, which is based on the Android platform and can transform any TV (CRT, Plasma, LCD or LED) into a smart TV. It also comes with an open network without getting restricted to any specific server, unlike most Smart TV brands, and it comes at the price of a regular smartphone!
Smart Box enables users to connect to the net through LAN, Wi-Fi or 3G dongle to surf and do any of the things you’d do online. It also creates a hotspot if connected to a LAN cable or 3G dongle as it transmits a Wi-Fi signal to operate other gadgets. It also supports the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) function, which allows the user to seamlessly access and transfer digital content (videos, photos, music) from a mobile phone to the TV screen directly, when connected by a common Wi-Fi device. It comes with a wireless mouse, is equipped with 4 GB internal memory and supports memory up to 32 GB through an SD Card slot.
Pranay Dhabhai, Managing Director, AKAI India, said, “Product life span in today’s digital age is short; buy anything and by the time you’ve stepped out of the shop, it’s already outdated. Our smart box is set to change the way television is seen in India. Customers can upgrade their existing TV to a Smart TV without changing their existing TV.” The product will be available across India and online at www.akai-india.net at an attractive introductory festive offer price of ‘6590 (MRP ‘6990). The company anticipates a market of 1 lakh units for the AKAI Smart Box in the coming months.
