Juggling hats!
Farhan Akhtar reveals why the two alter egos – of the filmmaker and the actor – should never clash
Farhan Akhtar says that there's no clash between the filmmaker and the actor and he can fit into any of the roles as required. Farhan is of the opinion that when one is acting, he should not wear the director's hat, and that is also the reason why he didn't face any difficulty when he was being directed by his filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar.
"When I am a filmmaker, I am thinking differently and when I am an actor, there's somebody else who is doing the thinking and I am doing the action part. There is no clash between the two selves when you are acting. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was clearly Zoya's film and she was very clear in her head about what she was doing and what she wants from each one of us. So, there was no question of giving her any creative input," Farhan says.
The filmmaker says that now when the film is out, it's time for him to concentrate on his next film with actor Shah Rukh Khan. He says now that he has shifted his gears, all his focus has shifted on the final editing of Don 2.
"I am very concerned of bringing out the best product on screen and as a director that's my job. As an actor, you try to stick to the vision that you haAve agreed with your director and once you have done with the performances, the job is over for you. For the director, your job is not over till your film hits the theatres. It's fun both ways," he adds. He says that he is very happy that his sister has been appreciated after some wait. "We all go through some tough times and Zoya also had her share, but she has bounced back right at the top with the film and I am very happy for her," he signs off.
