Actor Mallika Sherawat reveals the person she misses the most while she's travelling

Actor Mallika Sherawat is a globetrotter. When she's not in LA, hobnobbing with Hollywood biggies, she is touring the world for her umpteen shows and film shoots. But while anyone else would give an arm and a leg to trade places with her, Mallika says that her heart is where her home is — back in Mumbai. And while she misses the familiarity of her country while she's travelling overseas, there is also a special someone whom she misses seeing on a daily basis.
Ask Mallika if she is happy living out of the suitcase and she brushes it aside as an occupational hazard. "But I miss the warmth of the people in India the most while travelling. No country can match the hospitality that the people here have to offer. It just makes you feel so much at peace and loved," says Mallika.
As for the person she misses the most — before you get the wrong idea — the leggy lass says that it is her brother, whom she shares an apartment with back in the city. "I miss my brother a lot. He's the only family I have, so you can imagine!" she sighs.
Professionally, Mallika says that she is in a happy space right now. Her recent Hollywood release, she says has fetched her performance good reviews and that she cherishes each comment that comes her way. In fact, sources close to the actor say that Mallika is very excited at the thought of her performance being appreciated, even though it was not promoted as a film where she is skimpily-clad or doing daring scenes.
"I think she's grown out of that bold image though it still continues to be one of her USPs. But now Mallika is definitely looking for appreciation in more conventional circles. She wants to be known as a performer and not just another headline grabbing actor," says the source.
Quiz Mallika about this and all she says is that taking up roles in meaningful films is definitely on her radar now. And is there any actor she wishes to be paired with, to achieve this goal? "I've never been actor crazy," she says thoughtfully, quickly adding, "I want to work with the new generation of directors though. Vishal Bharadwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Rajkumar Hirani, Madhur Bhandarkar — they make such fabulous movies and I'd love to experience being a part of their movies." Are the directors listening?
