Stars on pilgrimage
More and more B-Towners are increasingly making trips to holy places
Perhaps it's to do with the ongoing festivities or the promise of the jingle at the BO, but Bollywood seems to have traded its partying ways to reveal a more spiritual side of late. So while the hectic pace at which films are being shot and promoted may not leave B-Towners with enough time to attend or throw lavish bashes, they do make sure to squeeze time out to keep lady luck on their side by visiting holy shrines and temples across the country. Of these, Ajmer seems to have become immensely sought for when it comes to seeking blessings with the celeb brigade.
Actor Katrina Kaif on Tuesday visited the Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to offer her prayers ahead of her release today. Among the others who recently visited the holy dargah also include Bolly superstar Amitabh Bachchan who had been there on completion of a mannat that he had made long time ago. A few weeks before that, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan too had visited Ajmer on his mom's anniversary. Post the success of his last release Singham, actor Ajay Devgn too visited the famed dargah along with wife Kajol and kids Nysa and Yug. Good friend and filmmaker Rohit Shetty too visited Ajmer for probably the same reason. Actor Deepika Padukone, who also has visited Ajmer in the past, recently also visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Actor Vidya Balan too apparently visited a temple down South with beau Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Not only Ajmer, the recent Eid, the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi and the Mount Mary fest as well as the upcoming Durga Puja too has celebs wear their faiths on their sleeves. According to sources, Shah Rukh kept more rozas this time around. Vidya had the elephant God visit home, as did Shilpa Shetty, Nana Patekar, Shreyas Talpade, Rani Mukerji, Hema Malini and even Salman Khan, even though the actor himself is away in the US for his surgery. Sanjay Dutt is known to visit the Mt Mary Church before his releases too. Rani is also known to celebrate the Durga puja with full zest, while actor Bipasha Basu visits home in Kolkata to bring home the devi. Like Bipasha says, "it's all a matter of faith irrespective of religion." Likewise, Shilpa too feels that "it's always good to thank God for the blessings. One doesn't need a special occasion for that, but if there's one, then why not?"
